We know that testing can be a heart-breaker and a mind-boggling situation. Testing isn't always fun, but we are here to help make the process a bit easier. If you ever wondered how to tackle hard questions, we got you! In this section, we will give you some bomb testing strategies. You won't have to stress or wonder anymore.
Elimination
This testing strategy is an oldie-but-goodie. When faced with multiple-choice questions start by eliminating answers that you are positive are incorrect. This will increase your probability of getting the right answer. Instead of having to guess between four choices you have to guess between two or three.
Look for similarities between the answers that for sure wrong and ones that seem like they could be right.
There will be goodanswers and the bestanswer.Always go for the bestanswer possible. Phrases or wording in the answer choices can make the difference between good and great.
Elimination is always a good strategy, especially when you have an idea of the answer but you aren't completely sure. Always up your chances of getting the correctanswer!
Use Context Clues
Check out similar questions when coming across difficult questions. Sometimes when you look back at previous questions the answer is in the question or other answer choices. Checking out earlier or similar questions can help jog your memory. If there are graphs, pictures or text that relate to the topic use those as well; there are often clues that can help you answer the question.
Annotate
Take notes in the margins of a text. Highlight or underline key details and information. Making these annotations will help you remember the text. Annotations are for comprehension and memory. Underlining full paragraphs or sections doesn't help you understand the content. Sometimes questions give you more information than you really need to confuse you. Marking-up the question and pulling out key details will help you get the correct answer.
Look at the questions first
Looking at the questions gives you a good idea of what you need to look for in the text. Questions are about graphs and images you can answer right away. The answer is often in the graph or image. If the answer is not in the figures, at least you know what to search for in the text that completes the connection to arrive at the right answer.
Have a go- To Answer choice
On a test where you are penalized for omitting an answer choice and you have no idea what the answer could be, guess. Guessing is a good way to go; at least you have a 25% chance of getting it right instead of 0% because you didn't answer the question at all. Some people go for their favorite letter out of the four. Some people go for the letter that is usually the right answer choice. Either way, it's all about increasing your likelihood of getting the right answer.
